The First Post……Spooky Ain’t It?

IMG_3008This is the first post from me, Zach Shaw. Who am I you ask?

Well first off, I am a Comm Major at Clark University. I hope to enter into the music business in some form (what ever form it’ll be by the time i graduate). I love to play guitar (both electric and acoustic). I work for Metalinsider.net as a News Contributer (I update the site’s news ticker with one line news items as well as contribute full articles). I have been a heavily active e-board member for the school’s on-campus TV network, Clark Cable Network (CCN Channel 11). I was co-PR of CCN but will soon be the club’s Station Manager. I created a sketch comedy show called The Kevorkian Slips, which can be viewed online or on CCN. I also previously hosted a radio show for ROCU every Saturday Night at 8pm called “Metal Minds Hour” with Mike Skowronek (a lot of scheduling problems/mishaps caused by ROCU, so I am unsure whether I will continue this sadly).

If you couldn’t tell, I am a huge music fan! My top favorites are Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, System of a Down, Avenged Sevenfold, Queen, Red hot Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters, Black Sabbath and of course The Beatles. However I love most Metal, Hard Rock, and Classic Rock and even some Pop and Hip Hop. If it has a great melody then I’m sure I’ll be hooked. Another hobbie of mine (more expensive one) is going to concerts. I’ve been going to as many shows as possible ever since I saw Alice Cooper when I was 6 years old. Name the band, I’ve probably seen them.

Want to know more? Well check back often. While this blog was at first for homework assignments for my Computer Mediated Communications Class (which I took in the Fall ’09 Semester), I am continuing to post concert and cd reviews and opinion articles through this blog as well.

Let’s have some fun!

  1. Zach,

I’m reading these posts in reverse order, so I’ll leave my comment here. This isn’t the first class (or second, or third) where I’ve used blogs as a teaching tool, so I can fairly say that is really impressive.

It’s also an interesting read. It’s been awhile since I’ve given metal any thought, but back in another life I did see Iron Maiden live during the Somewhere in Time tour, it’s interesting to see how things have evolved.

Thanks Paul. I’m really glad that you enjoy my posts.

And by the way, that is SO AWSOME that you got to see Iron Maiden live!!!! I got to see them back in 2003 (or 2004). VERY COOL!

  3. […] Also, next to my name, you’ll notice a miniaturized, color altered and cropped version of this picture. If you’re interested to see the difference, you can see the original image of the background and […]
