Its Official…NBC Has Screwed Themselves

If you’ve been around me in person or even or followed me on Facebook for the past week, you’ll know that I have been ranting nonstop about how NBC is screwing Conan O’Brien. First they screwed him back in March when they announced Jay Leno was getting his own hour talk show at 10 pm, giving O’Brien no lead in. Then last week (when NBC could no longer deny that the 10 pm stint failed horribly) they screwed Conan again when they announced plans for Jay Leno to move back to 11:35 pm and move The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien to 12:05 am. Because that makes sense, reward an individual who not only sucks but also has cost millions of viewers for your network with his old time slot (can you sense my sarcasm?).

I wanted to extend my wrath in writing for NBC in their decision to show my full support Conan sooner, for he is arguably one of the funniest individuals in Late-Night TV. However, as hard as it was, I decided to wait until Conan’s actions were made official. Well this afternoon, Conan revealed his plans. While it is in his best interest to do so, unfortunately he will be leaving The Tonight Show if NBC moves Leno back. And since NBC has made it publicly clear that they want Leno back at 11:35 PM, the switch will probably happend and O’Brien will be leaving. My Top Five Bands Of The Decade

It’s not just the end of another year. 2009 also marks the end of another decade of great music. Thus with another ten years gone, “best of” lists that recall everything that was great about the past decade are being published. Most magazines, websites and blogs have done…..except for me. Why am I not partaking in creating such a list? Well while I have no issue listing my favorite albums of a certain year (click here to see my favs of 2009), I find myself struggling to compile such a list for this past decade. I feel as if it is too daunting of a task to scan through an entire ten years of music. To simply put it, THERE IS JUST TOO MANY TO NAME! I also didn’t want to write up a list that will leave people puzzled and enraged like Rolling Stone’s most recent countdown (check out their top songs and albums lists if you want to become as frustrated as I was). Thus, I decided to instead write a piece on five bands that had the biggest impact on me personally within the past decade. These are bands that for one reason or another had an impact on how I viewed music as well as with life.

Since I am sharing my top five with you, I propose that you do the same as well. Instead of arguing over my personal choices, take a moment to highlight your own favorites. In the comment section, reveal which bands had the biggest impact on you personally during the past decade and why. This way we can celebrate the past decade rather than debate over it.

So without further ado, here are the five bands (in no particular order) that had the biggest impact on me during the 2000’s decade:

NIN Fan Created Live DVD Available Now……FOR FREE!!!

It isn’t as if we needed more proof that Nine Inch Nails fans are extremely devoted. But now the fans have gone out of their way and done something truly unbelievable: create a live concert DVD of NIN’s ambitious and stunning Light The Sky tour. What makes this even cooler is the fact that it is currently available for free download and viewing. That’s right…FREE!

After plans for one of the tour’s shows to filmed professionally for commercial release fell through, Trent Reznor called on fans to help edit and produce footage taken from stops in Portland, Sacramento and Victoria. What resulted was thousands of fans across the world, dubbed as This One Is On Us, creating Another Version Of The Truth: The Gift. Since I actually witnessed this tour when Reznor and company brought the tour to the DCU Center in Worcester, MA (November 9, 2008), I can say that Another Version Of The Truth:The Gift does a great job capturing the show. Light The Sky was truly unlike any other, using visuals and multimedia to blow your mind (check out pictures I took from the show here). If you were lucky enough to see this show in person, then the footage will bring back warm fuzzy moments of a great night. If you were the unfortunate fan who missed out, or even if you are just a concert enthusiast, then get ready to witness one of the most revolutionary concert tours.

Bravo to the hard working and dedicated fans who worked on Another Version Of The Truth:The Gift. You truly have done an outstanding job!

My Top Favorite Albums Of 2009!

Another year has gone by, and what a year in deed. 2009 brought us a slew of great music from personal favorites, all time legends, and soon to be legends. We saw the return of past rock heroes as well as the growth of current stars. All in all, 2009 brought us some damn good music. So much music in fact I myself had difficulty in choosing my favorites. After taking deep thought and re-listens, I have compiled a list of my top 25 personal favorite albums from the past year. I wrote a mini piece on each album in the top ten, while I listed the rest.

It should be kept in mind that there may be albums that you lean towards as your favorites but are missing from my list. This possibly could be due to one reason: I haven’t listened to that album yet! While I like to think of my musical tastes as wide and varied, I admit that there are many albums by great artists that for one reason or another I haven’t caught yet. With this in mind, I would like to propose a challenge to the readers of this piece: in the comment section, list your top favorite albums of 2009 and a brief description of why.
